Some cats go on adventures, and some cats must go on a journey.

There are plenty of adventuring cats out there, going on hikes with their hoomans, climbing on trees, and experiencing the world through a lens of bravery and an appetite for discovery. These cats are living their best adventuring life, experiencing all sorts of things most cats wouldn't even dream of. But some cats go on adventures not by choice or by character, but by necessity. And it's not their fault - cats have their routine, the lives that they know, love, and are used to. But sometimes, this life is shaken by external forces, and they must go on a journey before things get better again.

And this journey is one that Daisy the cat had to go on. Her human-mama couldn't take care of her, so the daughter-in-law took charge, and like a knight in shining armor came to save her from weeks of loneliness. The cat was about to board a flight, for the first time in her life, so she could be fostered by the kind daughter-in-law, until the mother-in-law could get better. It doesn't mean that Daisy wasn't as brave as other adventuring cats - on the contrary. She had to be even braver. And we love brave cats.

  • We assume this is a picture of “I just got inside and this is what greets me - I have to document it.” It's so irresistible to take a picture when a cat sees you, flops on the ground, and exposes their belly to you without breaking eye contact. A cat exposing their belly to you is like winning the lottery - you won their trust.

    When a cat does this, it usually means “I love you” in one way or another, but considering this specific case - it's more like “I've been alone for so long, I'm so happy to see you! Please give me love and attention, I need human contact, I don't know where my mom is, but I sure am glad at least someone is here. Do you come with treats?”

    GreenBook 1978 Please put something that smells like MIL in the carrier which will help soothe. Leave the carrier where the cat can look it over. Catch them early as cats know when you are leaving and are experts at hiding

    If the cat has a harness please put that on them when you put them in the carrier. A cat's instinct is to run and hide and if the carrier opens unexpectedly you will need to catch them

    Depending on the length of the flight add treats and be prepared for soiling (have papertowels etc). Have food and water in your carry on in case the flight gets delayed

    OP bugwitch Thanks for that. I have the carrier out and open. Put some things in it. I do see some harnesses but I don't think she's trained for them. Hoping TSA can do the private room for their screening. Not sure how well she'll do being held in a big, loud airport.

    I picked a nonstop flight in hopes of limiting her time in the carrier. Grabbed some pee-pads too. Will find some paper towels and pack them. Thanks again.

    Nokcha0571 I traveled with cat and there was a weight we had to meet, 7kg (about 15lbs), including the carrier. He had to go on a diet and I had him shaved (he's Persian). We just barely made weight. Um, not to be rude, but your boss is a little chonky. No weight restrictions on your airlines?

    OP bugwitch Weight limit is 20lbs. Yes. She's a chonk. I'll be getting her on a diet once she's settled in a bit. Last vet visit had her at 13.5lbs. According to the listing the carrier is under 4lbs. She's a small framed cat with a round middle.

    Make sure you have secured all of the zippers etc. that close the carrier. (Because of the weight restrictions on my flight, I used a soft carrier with lots of zippers. I wasn't able to secure on and of course he was able to open it and got out. He was with me, as well. Flight attendants were a little annoyed, but caught him easily.) I put a pet pad in the carrier, but he never used it. (We traveled from Korea to LA, 2 hour wait for flight, 11 hour flight, 1 hour through customs etc, 2 hours hom

    I'm not sure I'd worry about food and water. The boss should be okay for quite a long time. Bring an extra pet pad, zip lock and wipes in your carry-on. If the pet pad gets soiled, you'll want a way to clean it up so the cabin doesn't smell like cat poop. I'm sure others will have tips and opinions!

    OP bugwitch I didn't know about the locking zippers until looking for a carrier for this. The one I bought has them thankfully. I don't know what I'll do if she gets out.

    OP bugwitch The original plan was for the neighbors to care for her. They got tired of it and none would take her in. One said they'd take her to a shelter for us. I said I'd take her in.
